Hello, I am new to your list, so hope this message is OK! My Gt Gt Grandmother Betsy CLARK is on the 1841 census as a 6 yr old. Residence, I think is Bude or Bride Farm, Shelley/Ongar, Essex, but the writing is unclear. What I am asking is, has anyone come across this farm before or is there a directory of farms which I could look up and does anyone have any connections with these Clark's? Betsy's parents were William & Mary Clark, siblings were William b1821c, Hannah b1826c, Mary b1831c and Ann b1833c I would be very grateful if anyone could help me with this. I spent ages Googling this but came up with zilch. Thanks, Julie.
Julia, The 1851 directory lists the following farms in Shelley: - Bridge Farm (William Spitty & 1848); Motts farm - Molds Farm in 1848 (Wm Reed Britton) & New Barns Farm (James Clarke). The farmer names may help, which do you have on the census, Kevan -----Original Message----- From: essex-uk-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:essex-uk-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Julie Cooper Sent: 21 September 2008 15:45 To: Essex-UK@rootsweb.com Subject: [Ess] Farms in Shelley/CLARK Hello, I am new to your list, so hope this message is OK!
