I don't know if I should have posted to this list or the London list, apologies if wrong list, but this is my query. Edward supposed married Louisa (someone) from Hough Upton, Bucks in abt 1839 (their first child was born in Holborn St George the Martyr in 1840). I can find them on the census until 1861. I think Louisa dies in 1866, Holborn, and Edward remarried someone named Ann (b abt 1819, Surrey) I can't find Edward at all in 1871, although I have found some of the children, but he is there in 1881 with Ann (they are living at 30 Gloucester St Finsbury). Her surname may have been Swift? I can find no trace of either marriage, and can't find Edwards birth. Can anyone assist, suggest where to go next?? TIA Jan Moon Daintree, Australia

Are you sure it is the same Edward Stevens - In 1841 and 51 he is a gardener, in 1861 a butler but in 1881 he is a house decorator?
