    3. Hello In Essex are two places called Little Baddow and Great Baddow which are just out of Chelmsford. There is a Barrack Lane in Great Waltham also just outside of Chelmsford. Not sure if this helps though ;o) Ingrid -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Glen Call Sent: 26 October 2011 14:57 To: [email protected] Subject: [Ess] William Clark Baddow All, I am new this mail list and your patience is appreciated. I am researching the Clark and Sams or Sames names. More specifically William Clark and Mary Sams who were married in 1810. While searching Parish Chest Records, I found an entry for "William Clark Baddow" in a document titled "Monies received in Lieu of Statute Duty". He was also listed as an "Out Dweller". 1. Would this probably be a different person than my William because Baddow is a sir name, or could Baddow be a place? 2. What is "Statute Duty"? Other researchers indicate that my William was in the West Essex Militia and lived on Barracks Lane in the 1841 census. Any and all responses are appreciated. Glen
