Hi Folks, I am a newbie to your list and thought I would post my interest for this county in case anyone has a connection or could offer some help. I am looking for a Samuel MEAD/E born abt 1810 possibly of Burntwood or Brentwood. He is the son of James Mead and Margaret (surname unknown). Unfortunately what I know of him is not a lot except that he was sentenced at Chelmsford in 1831 for stealing some geese and he was transported to NSW, Australia for 7 years. He later married and died here. On won records it is stated that he was from Brentwood but when I ordered the film in I could not find him. Then recently I found his obituary in one of the papers for NSW and it states he was from Burntwood. Could SKS please have a look in the Parish Registers for Burntwood to see if he is recorded with his parents and any siblings. Unfortunately I don’t know when and where the parents married so I have hit a brick wall with this one. It has taken me 21 years to get this much on him. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. They are the same physical place. -- Regards, Mike Fry Johannesburg (ex:Billericay)
