I have an Enfield Marriage, St Andrew from Ancestry.co.uk 1880. The registration district is Edmonton. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Caroline Bradford" <[email protected]> To: "sylvia" <[email protected]> Cc: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, April 06, 2011 1:59 PM Subject: Re: [Ess] Enfield? > Hi Sylvia > > Enfield has never been in Essex. Registration Districts do not always pay attention to county boundaries, and Edmonton is a particularly tricksy one. Until 1939, it included Cheshunt in Hertfordshire and Waltham Holy Cross in Essex, as well as its own section of Middlesex, including Enfield (and, until 1848, Hampstead, which confuses many people!).
