I wondered aloud about this lack of coverage (Essex on the IGI) when I was home last and visiting the ERO and was told rather curtly that the Bishop didn't like the "idea" or more precisely "whose" idea it was and wouldn't allow it. It's really quite unfortunate because it would have saved them a bunch of money....     3. I was told the same story and also that a lot of churches in Essex were bombed during WW2 so some records were lost.
