    1. [Ess] Missing 1871 census images/transcriptions for Ardleigh, Essex on ancestry.com
    2. Karen Dickson
    3. Any members of ancestry.com with an interest in Ardleigh should note that a good deal of the 1871 census is missing from their database. Districts 1 and 2 are completely missing and only the last page (page 15) of District 3 is included. District 4 seems ok. I notified ancestry.com of this problem back on 3rd January, 2010 and was told - "Please understand that fixes to errors on Ancestry are posted firstly in the order of those which affect the greatest number of users, and thereafter in the order in which they are reported. For this reason, fixes for some errors may take longer than others to be posted. We appreciate your patience." After waiting for 1 year and 8 months I contacted them again and was told - "We appreciate your interest in the 1871 England Census. We currently have a hired team that scans and transcribes the collections we receive. Please understand that we receive a large volume of error submissions in our queue. Fixes to errors on Ancestry.com are posted firstly in the order of those which affect the greatest number of users, and thereafter in the order in which they are reported. As the queue is quite large, there is no foreseeable timeframe as to if or when those changes will be made. We regret the inconvenience this may cause." I suspect many ancestry.com members are just unaware that these records are missing and might waste considerable amounts of time looking for records that just are not there to be found. So if this problem is affecting any other ancestry.com members on the list please take note and contact ancestry.com to have this problem fixed. Thanks Karen Sydney, Australia
