    1. [Ess] Marriage Frank DIX to Helen OXENBRIDGE
    2. Good morning listers from a sunny South Africa. I am desperately trying to find the date of a marriage of a relative Frank DIX originally from Saffron Walden in Essex to a Eliza Helen OXENBRIDGE in the Congregational Church in Kent (Entry on Find my Past in 1902) . I do know that the marriage took place between April to June 1902 (Registered June quarter 1902). I would appreciate if sks who has a sub could help as membership is very pricy when paying in South African Rand at a conversion of 15 to 1. Kind Regards Bryan Dix

    3. Caroline Bell and I seem to have solved the mystery of the yellow message that Lawrence received from his search. I use the Old Search system on Ancestry uk and I don't get that message when I open Lawrence's link, but I think it likely that Lawrence is using the new search method on the site. Caroline had contacted me to say she too gets the yellow message and I told her I thought the new search might be the cause of it appearing. Caroline tells me she went to the link and reverted to the Old search and the message disappeared. Hope you can follow what I am getting at. I tried the new search and didn't like so have stuck with the old search system which I had got so used to using. 3. I did wonder if the appearing/disappearing yellow box might be due to language settings in our browsers, rather than geography (if it is geography, then going by your replies it certainly isn't by country!). I had a look in my Firefox settings and discovered - surprise surprise - that it was set to English (US). I never noticed that before! I reset it to English (UK) but I still get the yellow box. Back to square one. Or, in English, back to square one. Lawrence On 14/06/2013 16:22, Jenny De Angelis wrote: > HI Peter, > > I get nothing like you describe when I open the page. 3. Hi all Just an update on my search for a memorial inscription at East London Cemetery.  I contacted the cemetery and they had a record that there was originally a headstone but no other details.  They informed me that they do not have any records of memorial inscriptions or know of anyone who has ever recorded memorial inscriptions at the cemetery.  It is astonishing that such a large and important cemetery such as this in East London has never had memorial inscriptions recorded there by anyone through the years. Maybe I am missing > something? I think Lawrence was trying to be facetious about the page. Under the title (English Settlers in Barbados, 1637-1800), there's a message in a box with a yellow background. And it reads precisely as Lawrence said. Wasn't it GBS who said that the Americans and British were one people separated by a common language? Ancestry have just proved his point. -- Regards, Mike Fry Johannesburg
