    1. [Ess] New hotel near Essex Records Office
    2. I've just had notification that the new Travelodge at the Army & Navy Roundabout (a few minutes walk from the ERO) will be opening on 11 December. Det ails of the hotel can be found at _http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_book/hotel_overview.php?hotel_id=384_ (http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_book/hotel_overview.php?hotel_id=384) If you book (and pay) online early, you can get a room for as little as GBP9.00 (non-refundable) on some dates - look on the 'Saver' tab. And to clarify, I have no connection with the organisation, but post this in case it may be of interest to someone who needs accommodation while researching their family history DaveD I raise money for charity just by searching the web! www.everyclick.com is an internet search engine with a big difference - it donates half its revenues to charity, please support them too!

Harry is very often a dimunitive form of Henry. Have you found the entry for his birth on FreeBMD, as that should confirm what name he was registered with? Apologies if you'd already tried this. :o) Regards, Jan Beaconsfield, UK _________________________________________________________________ Win £1000 John Lewis shopping sprees with BigSnapSearch.com http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/117442309/direct/01/

    3. Good morning, i know the 1881 census index is available on line but, could someone please send me the census image. I believe there is a mistranscription for one of the names and would like to see if i am correct. In order to find more children for this couple could i please, also ask for the census images for the 1891 and 1901 census. The people i am looking for are as follows: 1881 census, James LEVEY age 30, carpenter, born Stanstead, Essex. Sarah LEVEY age 29, born Gt. Hallingbury and dau. Sarah G. 1891 and 1901 census would have a son for this couple, Ernest LEVEY bc: 1885 They would be living in Gt. Hallingbury. I do not know where they would be living during the 1891 or 1901 census. 3. Recently had a walk around London City cemetery in Wansted. I notices a number of older graves with square labels wired to them saying that the grave was been considered for reclamation, if you have an interest please contact the cemetery office. Not sure of the exact detail but think it may be graves over a hindred years old where there has been no contact with the grave owner. Bit sad as there were some quite elegent bits of sculpture. I wonder if they will take a photographic record before disposal? Howard ----- Original Message ----- From: "La Greenall" <elde.worth@ntlworld.com> To: "'Tony Pottrell'" <editor@pyroport.com>; <essex-uk@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, November 14, 2008 9:49 PM Subject: Re: [Ess] Plans to re-use graves I suppose you could try squatting on it... Seriously, though, the report gives the impression that this will happen everywhere at the same time, to the same degree, but I bet there's serious hotspots that need urgent action. I can't see there being any such problem at WA for some time yet. Our cemy is divided into two by a road, and the 'old' half (say pre-1900) has mostly been cleared ready for a new batch. The new half took roughly a century to fill up. I must say, though, that as a historian I'd prefer double-decking and retention of the old inscriptions to a complete clearance. Plenty of my ancestors are now memorial-less. To answer your question (sort of), I'm sure that living relatives have rights over their family grave plots; when I buried my dad in 06 and had to pay £500 for the plot, I'm sure the certificate said that I 'owned' it (or the right of burial in it) for 100 years. Therefore, any plans to commence double-decking would technically require all living plot-owners to be contacted - though we know that will happen, don't we! 1. [Ess] EDWARD YATES CHESTER
    2. Liz Darcey
    3. Hi Lizt I am researching EDWARD YATES CHESTER. What I have so far is that is was born in Plaistow, Essex in about 1776 according to the 1851 Census. He is listed as Edward Yoles Chester. He was living with his daughter and grand-daughter. He died shortly after the Census was taken in the St Giles Registration District. I would like sks to do a look up for me on the Essex - West Ham - Plaistow Parish Records. I am in particular looking for a christening date and parents names, if such information is available. Regards Liz Darcey
