He gave me the impression his father, Thomas Allison, was from Sheffield, (Eng.) or departed from there. Upon reaching the states he worked on the Erie Canal. Thomas was supposed to have had a sister in Indiana and started west to find her, but never accomplished it He married Phoebe Ann Gifford in 1838 and had 11 children before passing away in 1888 in ridgeway, lenawee, michigan 2 other posts that I found on ancestry.com are as followes Classification: Query Surnames: Allison, Smith, Dean, Bonnell I'm also reseaching Thomas Allison family.
