Hi Elaine, Thanks for your reply, I emailed Barnsley library sometime back, and they did a lookup for me, but were unable to find any Joseph Gillott, also using surname variations, born abt 1830 in Thurlstone. I have found a Jonas Jellott christened 18 Mar 1792 Wesleyan, Holmfirth, Yorkshire, also on the 1851 census in Sheffield, a Jonas Gillatt b abt 1792 in Attercliffe, Yorkshire, but no mention of Joseph b in or around the areas mentioned, I have been unable to find Joseph on the 1841 & 1851 census, all very confusing, nevermind, perhaps one day I find what I am looking for Cheers Carole New Zealand ----- Original Message ----- From: "Elaine Pickard" <trayford@rogers.com> To: <eng-yorkshire@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 02, 2007 3:06 AM Subject: Re: [YORKSHIRE] Gillott > Hi Carol, > > Don't want to lead you astray but the Gillott name is well known around > the > Sheffield area.
