Following a flood - of emails into my inbox, asking if the fair at York is cancelled, I have to assure everyone that it is still on! I have just driven up to the Knavesmire, where all is well. The racecourse was indeed closed today, but that was due to severe waterlogging and not to any river swell. The Knavesmire Exhibition Centre is above any possible water line, and this fair promises to be the best ever. If it should happen to rain on Saturday, there is nowhere better to go to find shelter! The newspapers and television do only show the worst bits. Please don't be put off by them, as the roads are clear in the York area. If you are travelling from a distance away, we advise you to listen to local radio bulletins, should the weather turn out so bad again.
