    3. G'day Listers, Last month I posted a message regarding the family of DRYDLE, DRYDALE and received a few emails with advise on searching for this family. All were gratefully appreciated. And helped fill in a few pieces and have given me new avenues to search. Now my problem is the wife of my John Drydle, Caroline STOTT. I know from their marriage certificate that her father was named Joseph STOTT and he was listed as a "Traveller". Some kind listers helped out with searches and it "appears" that Caroline's mother may have been named Rebecca HIRSTWOOD. I have looked in the 1841 and 1851 Census and can find no sign of this family. Am I searching incorrectly? Many thanks, Melissa in OZ..

    3. Hi Melissa, What is Caroline STOTT's year and place of birth? This will help to find her. 3. G'day Wendy, Sorry to have taken so long to reply to your message (work and family take up precious researching time lol). Caroline STOTT, what I know for "certain" was 26 yrs old when she married John DRYDLE, who was 23 (this is from their marriage certificate). She was a "dressmaker" and he was a "tailor". Sadly their marriage certificate does not list witnesses, so I am unable to find siblings for her. Both Caroline and John resided at the time of their marriage at Old Street, Ashton under Lyne. Her father, Joseph STOTT, was listed as a "traveller" Caroline was listed as 61 yrs of age when she died in St Kilda, Australia. It is "thought" that Caroline was born in Huddersfield, (I have yet to find proof of her birth, to be able to apply for a birth or any baptism record) to Joseph Stott and Rebecca Hirstwood. Many thanks, Melissa. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wendy" <wgb@iinet.net.au> To: <eng-yorkshire@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 05, 2007 7:05 PM Subject: Re: [YORKSHIRE] STOTT > Hi Melissa, > > What is Caroline STOTT's year and place of birth?
