Hello, Roy, I have no doubt that there was never such a marriage. (I paid AUS $39 to be told that!) The marriage date was from a family member, (who may have been trying to 'protect' us), although we already knew that we had one convict in the family. However, since that one convict, we have already found another few!! (unmentioned in the tree!) George and Charlotte were too late to have been convicts, however, so I am told. They went out together and "got married." My husband would really like to know the truth about the SHEPHARDs and so would I.! What else can I say which I haven't already? I do know that people often lied and am very understanding of that fact. Still, my 92 + year old mother in law would like to know the truth. (She's totally 'compos mentis' and didn't turn a hair when I said this week that there wasn't such a marriage and she replied that "maybe they weren't married at all"! ) Slight shock to hear that from someone that age !
