    3. Hi Would someone mind looking up the records for: Nellie WATSON b: About 1882 in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter District: STOCKTON County: DURHAM, Yorkshire, North Riding in Vol 10a on Page 65. I was able to get the info from Ancestry.com but it doesn't give parents names - which is what I'm wanting. I'm just hoping this is the girl I'm looking for. Thanks Marcelle in Western Australia No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Version: 7.5.472 / Virus Database: 269.8.17/850 - Release Date: 6/15/2007 11:31 AM

    3. Hi Marcelle, The only way you can find the parents for sure is to send for the certificate. Ancestry only have an index. I have checked in the 1891 and 1901 censuses but there is not a matching Nellie born Darlington, Sorry Anne On 16 Jun 2007, at 06:21, mvs wrote: > Hi > > Would someone mind looking up the records for: > > Nellie WATSON > b: About 1882 in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter > District: STOCKTON > County: DURHAM, Yorkshire, North Riding in Vol 10a on Page 65. > > I was able to get the info from Ancestry.com but it doesn't give > parents > names - which is what I'm wanting. > > I'm just hoping this is the girl I'm looking for. > > Thanks > > Marcelle in Western Australia

To get the full details you will have to buy the birth certificate, which will cost you 7 pounds from the GRO. That's how the system works and what the rest of us would have to do. The alternative is to find her in the 1891 census and see who her parents were. However, I suspect there is likely to have been more than one Nellie Watson in the Stockton RD. -- Roy Stockdill Guild of One-Name Studies: www.one-name.org Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about." 3. Hello Marcelle. I had a look for your Nellie Watson born c. 1882 Co. Durham in the 1891 census. There were two possibles. One born c. 1884 West Hartlepool was living at Stranton with parents William and Jane and lots of siblings. The parents were from Scotland. The other born c. 1880 Trimdon was a pupil in a school for "ladies" at Marske Yorkshire. There was also a Nellie Edith Watson born c. 1884 living at Stanhope but she was born in America. Hope this helps. If you would like further details of the census entries please let me know. 3. Hello Fee from Bristol Thanks so much for taking the time to help me. I don't know yet if these will be any of mine but anything's worth a try. Because of the the porkies told over the years I'm just trawling through anything I think might reveal something wonderful! My g grandmother always maintained her parents names were Joseph Drury (and alternative spellings) and Sarah Pratt. He was supposed to be a Jeweller/Watchmaker and she an Elocution Teacher. Of course this could all be just rubbish but she did stick to these names unlike her own which changed a lot. I keep hoping that Sarah & Joseph are going to appear either under the name of Drury or Watson - if only. Thanks again Fee - really nice of you. There was then another NELLIE WATSON born in the June quarter of 1885 at Stockton, Vol 10a page 78, who is probably one of those who appears in the 1891 census, aged 6. -- Roy Stockdill Guild of One-Name Studies: www.one-name.org Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
