Hi List Looking for RICHARD & MARIA HARDEY nee HUDSON. Living in Hull after their marriage but Richard born Barrow-on-Humber. Does anyone have access to the 1851 Census to check for me? Maria was reputedly a portrait painter. Unusual for this time? I would like to check if this is so and where she was born. My husband Ray is researching a portrait hanging in a National Trust house - the farm of Richard's brother and family, early settlers in Perth, W. Australia. In my own family history research, I belong to other Rootsweb Lists and I have told him how wonderful Listers were in helping track down information. I am sure Yorkshire folk are no different!
