A bit of a long shot, but here goes!!!! I note from your post that you have some info on WALKERS in Durham? My major "brick wall" is locating the birth, origin and family of my great grandfather Samuel WALKER, who was born around 1840 or perhaps slightly earlier, and who usually gave his place of birth as Rainton or East Rainton, Durham. I cannot trace him prior to the 1861 Census, but have lots of info about him thereafter, his life in North Yorkshire as the Stationary Engine Driver at Rosedale, and his death in that town in 1912. His father was also Samuel WALKER, who was noted in 1861 as a Labourer and in 1883 as a Manager (both sources were his son's Marriage Certificates)..... Samuel's daughter Jane Elizabeth CLARKE (don't ask!) eventually married my gandfather James WATSON.... Any thoughts would be very gratefully received.
