Hello I am looking for Elizabeth Barke that married Alfred Butler in 1892 in Nottingham On the 1901 census she gives her birth place as Heywood Lanc;in 1863 .The only Elizabeth Barke on the 1871 census was born in Sheffield .I have look on the Yorkshire and Lanc; surname lists but no Barke surnames . Hope some one can help Jeff

Hi Jeff, I have just looked at FreeBMD and there is an Elizabeth Barke registered in Rochdale in 1871. When you look at the area that Rochdale covered Heywood is mentioned. I would purchase her marriage certificate, which would give you a better idea, followed by the birth cert that I mentioned. Who knows, she could have been married previously to someone called Barke and we could be barking up the wrong tree. Prove as you go is always worthwhile. Kindest regards. Elaine in Ottawa.
