    1. [YORKSHIRE] BAYNES family Skelton on Ure
    2. [shawmail.gv.shawcable.net]:[Jack Beeching]
    3. I have a Richard BAYNES born about 1768 according to census and death records. Richard seems to have lived his adult life in Skelton as a labourer. He married his first wife Isabella MOUNTAIN 15 May 1794, at Ripon Collegiate. She was buried 06 Mar 1804, and he married again in 1808 to Esther ATKINSON. My problem is identifying Richard's birth place and parents. There is a very likely record in the IGI Batch # C104761, 20 Jun 1768, father Thomas BAYNES. The same batch has a record for Isabel MOUNTAIN, 15 May 1764, father Thomas MOUNTAIN. Richards first three children were, Thomas, Sarah, and Richard. Isabella's mother may have been Sarah LAWSON. C104761 is for Topcliffe by Thirsk and there is a very strong BAYNES representation there going back several more generations. With nothing more than the IGI records is this a safe leap? Jack
