Hello Carolyn, My g grandfather was the youngest of the 11 children of John Shepherd and Ursula Emma (nee Sheppard) farmers of Raskelf ,Yorkshire on 1841 census. The 3 oldest children George, James and Ann were all recorded as 15 years of age. Ages were not always recorded exactly in 1841. The surnames of both parents vary in spelling between Shepherd, Shephard and Sheppard on different documents . A long shot I’m sure but any known connection?
