G'day Listers, I have been away from the list due to health reasons and computor crashes and am now back trying to find my elusive DRYDLE family. I know that my JOHN DRYDLE was born in Yorkshire, England (stated on his death certificate). His parents were JAMES DRYDLE and ELIZABETH JACKSON. John died in 1878 aged 54, so he would have been born about 1824. John DRYDLE married CAROLINE STOTT in 1847. On their marriage certificate it states the following: John DRYDLE 23yrs, Tailor, son of James DRYDLE, Weaver Caroline STOTT 26yrs, Dressmaker, daughter of Joseph STOTT, Traveller. Registration District; Ashton and Oldham. Marriage solemnized at The Methodist New Connexion Chapel, Ashton under Lyne. in the Counties of Lancaster and Chester. John and Caroline had a son; James Stott Drydle who was born in "England". James Stott Drydle died 1910 in Australia aged 62 yrs 9/12. It is stated on his death certificate that he had lived 60 years in Victoria, Australia and that he was born in England. John and Caroline also had 4 daughters: Mary Stott Drydle, Caroline, Rebecca and Eliza Ann. All born in Australia. I have been searching to find the rest of the DRYDLE family and confirmation of when and where my John DRYDLE was born and if he had siblings. I have NO more information on his wife Caroline than their wedding certificate gives, I have no idea where she was born or when or even who her mother may have been. I have been unable to find either family on any census. I had thought that "hopefully" they were BOTH unusual surnames so they might be easy to trace, but that has not proven to be so.
