All I have are photocopies of the registers which are not searchable and they are pretty messy & faint in places. I did see another earlier Maxwell family and there are more Sandersons. If you are right & William was born in Scotland then my guess would be that he was told by his relatives that there was work there or maybe he just went on a visit. He then met Mary Ann who was a local girl, maybe from a nearby village & they got married. Now thats all conjecture. haha I can't remember which register I saw the earlier Maxwells in but I will try to look later for you.
