Dear List, I just received birth cert. from GRO only to find my guess was wrong. Could SKS look for Thomas and Alice (nee PRESTON) SHUTTLEWORTH on Woodman Row in Skipton. There should be a son listed as John William. They moved to Cowling but I don't know how soon after John birth on 9 Dec 1860. Regarding Weaver guilds or unions, I didn't find any archives of lists but it mentioned some overlookers at mills in Cowling web.
