I say possible because there are five other names on the page. However, the 1861 census has a John and Ruth Bishop at Keighley, with five children including a Jane aged two. John was 35 and Ruth 32 and this was the only John Bishop in Yorkshire with a wife called Ruth that I could find. The obvious thing to do is apply for the 1849 marriage certificate from the GRO, making sure to specify you want checks in case they didn't marry each other, in which case you will get some of your money back. However, neither Leeds nor Keighley are anywhere near Malton. -- Roy Stockdill Guild of One-Name Studies: www.one-name.org Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
