At the risk of incurring YOURr disapproval once more, why don't you sod off Roy. You obviously have nothing better to do than try to intimidate people but in my case you're failing miserably. Everyone has been obliging and generous on this list except you. The idea is to help one another, a concept you seem to be hard-pushed to understand and when and if you do, you never stop whining about it. It would be wonderful if one could ask for assistance without being harrangued by you but you seem to be making a career out of it so I can only assume you are a very unhappy person - especially since you failed that Charm School course you had such high hope of!. Cheers and have a nice day, Marcelle. -----Original Message----- From: eng-yorkshire-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:eng-yorkshire-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Roy Stockdill Sent: Sunday, 15 July 2007 6:02 PM To: ENG-YORKSHIRE@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [YORKSHIRE] DRURY From: "mvs" <mvs5@westnet.com.au> > Would someone kindly look for a marriage for : > > DRURY Joseph of Stockton b: about 1832 > > Thanks > > Marcelle - Western Australia> At risk of incurring your displeasure once more, I feel bound to ask why you cannot do this yourself? You have precisely the same tools and sources at your disposal as we have, i.e. FreeBMD and the GRO Indexes at several websites like Ancestry, Findmypast etc. It might help if you gave even a hint of a likely date or place. Or are you saying you have tried to find the marriage for yourself and failed, in which case you are asking for others to try their luck? In which case, why not say so? I wonder how many Joseph Drurys there were born about 1832 at Stockton who could have married anywhere in the country (or outside it)? -- Roy Stockdill Guild of One-Name Studies: www.one-name.org Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about." That is not just a needle in a haystack, it's a needle in an entire pine fore3st! As others will testify, I have very often helped people on this and other lists with my specialist knowledge. However, I expect enquirers to be able to demonstrate three things..... 1) That they have made every effort themselves to find the information. 2) They supply as much detail as possible as to what they have already done, in order that we who are trying to help do not duplicate work already carried out. 3) That they give as much detail as possible about the person they seek. Is that really so unreasonable? I doubt many will think so. -- Roy Stockdill Guild of One-Name Studies: www.one-name.org Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
