    1. [YORKSHIRE] new to list - selby/hull
    2. Hello everyone :) I recently discovered that I have a link to Yorkshire in my family tree. I'm really struggling however to know what to do from here. My ancestor was a JOHN SMITH who was actually born in Lincolnshire, I haven't found his birth/baptism but I believe it may have been 'Burton' (that's what it seems to read in the 1861 census) circa 1787. He was a Naval Captain/Seaman and was having children in Selby and in Kingston Upon Hull in Yorkshire. The oldest child of his that I can find (so far) is a Mary Jane Smith who was christened at Selby in 1830, I know she definately belongs to them because the other child christened at Selby - Harriet Ann in 1831 - is with her mother in 1851 (however I don't know if Mary Jane survived infancy). My problem is that I would really love to find his marriage to his wife HARRIET so that I can discover more information about them. I presume that they probably married at Selby or surrounds but have had no luck with IGI. Does anyone have any records for surrounding towns or have any advice for me? John Smith was also apparently an Inn Keeper. Thank you so much Tamara Australia
