Unfortunately, Marcelle, along with a good many others, especially newcomers, seems to take it very personally when the deficiencies in a posted query are patiently explained to them. I get particularly irritated when accused of being unhelpful when those who know me better are well aware that I will put myself out to try and help, provided the OP has been reasonable in a) trying first to discover the information for themselves and b) supplies sufficient detail to be useful. I really cannot see that this is at all an unreasonable attitude. As a professional genealogist I could easily charge anything from £15- £30 an hour for my time, as my professional colleagues do. However, I do it for nothing on the lists because I genuinely like to try and help people. 3. I heartily agree with you Stephen, this is very rude and I have always found Roy to be very helpful. His comments are absolutely "spot on", my view is that if you want to research your Family history, then you should be prepared to do a lot of hard work and not expect others to do it all for you. I have subscribed to one or two groups and have always found them very happy to help.
