I was always told I had a relative from Whitby who was 'lost at sea' and think I've found the name but would love to find out more, if anyone knows anything. Think William Hutton was born 1790, married Isabella Scurr in 1812 in South Shields (she was born Whitby), they had 5 offspring and lived in Cliff Lane, Whitby. He doesn't appear in the 1841 census and in the 1851 census Isabella is described as a sailor's widow. Does anyone know anything about this relative or the family?
