    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: suecosheril Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.yks.general/15390.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Judy, The name of the person is Mary Ann BRYAN, who was the wife of Patrick BRYAN (who was born in Tipperary, Ireland). In the 1871 Census (RG10/662) Mary Ann is recorded as being 30 years old and living in Lambeth,Surrey; in 1881 (RG11/1724)she is shown as age 39, living in East Ham,Essex. As for which Riding it's in - sorry, I have no idea. I had tried previously to track her down by trying to pick her up before she married but have had no luck so far. What I do know from birth and marriage cert's, is that when Mary Ann married Patrick her name is recorded as Mary Ann Pendegast. On their children's birth cert's, her name is recorded as Mary Ann BRYAN, previously PENDEGAST, formally BRENHAN or BRENNAN. I haven't been able to track down the first marriage yet, and according to the marriage cert to Patrick BRYAN, Mary Ann's father, Thomas BRENHAN, a mason, was dead by the time she married Patrick in 1870.
