There is quite a dispute over the wife of John Dods. Some people say it is a Jane Dier, who came over on a "bride ship" from England. I have not found anyone who can say there was a "Jane Eagle Plume", or a Chief Eagle Plume. The Iroquois did not live in Virginia. The Powhaten tribe lived in Virginia. It seems people are just repeating what they have found on the internet without any proof. The GOOD NEWS is that I found a man who wrote a book on John Dods, and it is in the process of being published. Here is a link to another discussion web site where the book is mentioned. The book is called "The Life of John Dods". http://genforum.genealogy.com/dodson/messages/3876.html I sent him an email to inquire about the book and to also make sure the email address was still valid. >>>>> Due to the "rules" of this discussion board, I am not supposed to provide others peoples names and email addresses. However, both are available at the link I provided, and anyone can contact me at michaeltipton2222gmail.com. <<<<< >>>> Disclaimer <<<< I am just another person trying to research my Dodson family tree, and I happened to find this information while searching the internet. date Sun, Oct 11, 2009 at 6:38 PM subjectRe: John Dods Book Michael: Thanks for your response to my note. The manuscript is currently at the printers. I'm not sure exactly when I will get the copies, but you are on my mailing list now, and I will let you know the details of how to obtain a copy as soon as I get them. Perhaps the question is now solved. I hope this information will somehow help fellow researchers of the Dods/Dodson/Dotson line. I have a thought. Why are all of these people researching the Dodson family tree individually? Why not have the Dodson tree set up somewhere on the internet where anyone can add their lines to it. The linage would have to be reasonably certain to be added. But this has got to be better than hundreds of people having their own little pieces of their family tree on a computer or paper - and not knowing how they "fit into" the overall Dodson family tree. I have a lot of data I can contribute to this. Just let me know. Michael A Tipton Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
