Grandfathers Name: Fred Laverack Storr b 10/12/1914 at Flaxley Lodge Cottage, Selby Common to Annie Storr - a domestic servant at said property. My grandfather was adopted and became Fred Margrave. He never spoke about this so have little to go on and he died some years ago. The longshot relates to his middle name which is a very common last name particularly around the Selby area. I don't suppose anyone related to the Laveracks of this area ever heard a story of a distant relative being sent away for adoption at the time of the great war. My mum was told that the father was killed in action early on in the war but that shouldn't have stopped the name being put onto the birth certificate. Therefore, it does suggest that he was an illegitimate child. As I have said, this is a very very long shot but if anyone has any info that may help it would be appreciated.
