    1. [YORKSHIRE] Leeds Tithe Map project
    2. Hi folks The Leeds Tithe Map project has been created under the control of the West Yorkshire Joint Archive Services. Unfortunately at the moment this project only covers the current Leeds Metropolitan area as at 1974. There is a wish to extend to other West Yorkshire areas but that depends on funding. Tithe maps to coincide geographically with the Leeds Metropolitan area were reviewed & professionally restored before being sent to the Coal Authority offices in Nottingham to be photographed digitally. The Coal Authority in Nottingham has the biggest camera facility in the UK. The digitalised Tithe maps were then linked to current day mapping i.e. Multimap, so you can look for an address on the right hand side of the screen and compare it with the corresponding Tithe mapping on the left hand side. The Apportionment books relating to the Tithe maps have been again digitalised and can be viewed in association with the Tithe Maps. So you can see who OWNED the Tithed land in addition to who WORKED that land. I attended a workshop for the pilot project at our local library a few weeks back. The official launch of the site is today. The link to the site is http://www.tracksintime.wyjs.org.uk/. The Tithe Map comparison is provided on the top left link button. Should you come across any problems with this site please be patient and report the problem through the 'contact us' link. I did suggest to them to provide a 'report (X) error' type reporting facility on the site.
