Hi Andre, I would suggest you either view the 1911 census record you have found for Frederick or order his birth certificate (or alternatively his marriage certificate would give his father's name). Hi Sue, Thanks for your suggestions. Someone on the list just found the family in Norton Derbs in 1901 for me, which lies in Ecclesall Bierlow district. His parents are John and Kate MERRILL, both born in Sheffield around 1872 and he had an elder brother called Stuart.
