There are two Butterwick in Yorkshire; one is in the East Riding, near Foxholes, the other is close to Great Barugh, and in the parish of Barton le Street (North Riding). There is no information given, on the 1851 census form, about the pub. It is not even mentioned by name. Living with Richard and Jane are: Mary Walker, a house servant, aged 18, Richard Humble, lodger, aged 42, Dorothy Coates, lodger, aged 52, Mainforth Coates, scholar, aged 14. Richard Swales and Jane Wilson married at Slingsby (adjoining parish to Barton le Street)8 Sep 1822.
