Hi Dennis Rather difficult to check the archives for a post that hadn't been sent at that time though :-) In all cases for a gatewayed post, it is always best to check the board from whence it came If by the OP you mean the board poster, they may be blissfully unaware of the existence of the lists Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) >>As the post that you replied to was a gatewayed one, your reply will not >>be >>seen by them if they don't also subscribe to the list (most don't) >> >>You need to click the blue link which takes you to the board where it was >>posted originally, reply there and in turn your reply will be gatewayed >>back >>to the list so you only need post once > > Or (my preference) the original poster should check > http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/ENG/ENG-YORKSHIRE.html for > additional replies. > > -- > > Dennis Kowallek

This is probably good advice in either case. >If by the OP you mean the board poster, they may be blissfully unaware of >the existence of the lists Then the ancestry/rootsweb board should make the poster aware at the time they post. Right now, all they have is a hard-to-find note at the bottom of the browser window. Don't assume that replies that get sent only to the list aren't done so intentionally. -- Dennis Kowallek Cincinnati, Ohio [email protected] ******************
