However I am having trouble deciphering his place of birth. In the 1851 census the birthplace looks like Lanceston, Yorks (but no such place seems to exist). In 1861 his birthplace is recorded as Hetton, Yorks - which I can find to the North West of Skipton, but it is not near anywhere resembling the name Lanceston or varations of.
