Why don't you try giving some serious details like dates, places, etc.? 3. Oh please, can we try being polite, it would be just as easy to ask for dates and places without the extra comments. If those comments are needed perhaps it could be in the form of advice rather than criticisms. We all have bad days, but gee courtesy can go a long way. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Roy Stockdill" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, August 22, 2009 1:58 PM Subject: Re: [YORKSHIRE] Adoption > On 22 Aug 2009 at 20:48, [email protected] wrote: > >> This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. >> >> Author: kirsty156 >> Surnames: wilson, harper, clarkson >> Classification: queries >> >> Message Board URL: >> >> http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.yks.general/15 >> 357/mb.ashx >> >> Message Board Post: >> >> I'm trying to find details of a lady by the name Annie Harper, her mum >> was Sarah Wilson. from what i understand is that Sarah Wilson is her >> biological mum. but a gentleman by the name frank harper adopted her >> when he married Sarah and she took his name is ther anyway i might be >> able to get more information or clarfy this as i can seem to find any >> details of her birth > > > What a totally absurd and ridiculoust post! > > Why don't you try giving some serious details like dates, places, etc.? > Otherwise, how on > earth do you expect people to help you? > > > -- > Roy Stockdill > Professional genealogical researcher, writer & lecturer > Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: > www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html > > "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, > and that is not being talked about." > OSCAR WILDE > > > > > > Some useful websites - > FREECEN - http://www.freecen.org.uk/ > FREEBMD - http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ > Want to know where a place in Yorkshire is - Try Genuki > http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/ > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Hi, We still need more info. I have a Sarah Wilson in my line from England. These groups are very helpful but they do need information to help. So I will ask these questions in an effort to see if anyone can help. So Annie was born in 1910, is this right? Where was she born? City/Town, County/District, Country? You state you don't know birth information, but due to lack of clarity I want to be sure you meant you knew nothing. You state her mother and adopted father married in 1932. Do you know where, same information needed as for birth, so that is City/Town, County/District, Country. How do you know this information? The fact that you know it shows there is something you have that leads you to believe this. So this is what we mean by giving us more information. Sometimes the smallest thing to a beginner is a big thing to those of us who have spent hours researching our family lines. If you would like to take another look at what you have or know and provide more, your chances of success will go way, way up. Hope this helps you as starting out is always confusing and overwhelming. Its like doing a jigsaw, each fitting piece leads to another. Some of those pieces look like nothing, yet when you examine it closely you find where it belongs, You build on that and then suddenly you have a complete picture. Hope this helps.
