Hi Lance, If you go to the Genuki Rillington parish page: <http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS//ERY/Rillington/index.html>http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/ERY/Rillington/ you will see that pre 1974, Scampston was in the parish of Rillington. Place names joined with "cum" are generally the names of townships (names which rarely survive to the present day). Thus, if you are looking for Church records for Scampston you should be looking at the Rillington parish records. Look under "Church records" on the above page for the location of these records. Do not go looking for old records with modern boundaries in mind ! Both of these places were in the East Riding before the 1974 boundary changes - not to be confused with either East Yorkshire or the present "East Riding of Yorkshire". If you need a map of the old boundaries, then try my detailed map of Yorkshire - under maps on the main Genuki Yorkshire page. You might also find the "Where is it in Yorkshire" pages of use (see top of main Genuki Yorkshire page). Hope this helps, Best wishes, Colin Hinson In the village of Blunham in Bedfordshire U.K. Webmaster for the Genuki Yorkshire pages: http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/ Old and Rare Yorkshire Books on searchable CDroms: http://www.YorkshireCDbooks.com >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I found a record in the IGI that lists the place of Baptism as Rillington-cum-Scampston. I see a Rillington what looks like in East Yorkshire and I see a Scampston in what looks like in North Yorkshire. I did not see a parish Rillington-cum-Scampston. Can somebody help unconfuse me please. Regards, Lance
