    3. I wonder if anyone else has been watching the super series on BBC2 presented by Michael Portillo, the former politician? He has been travelling the railways of Britain with a copy of the famous 19th century Bradshaw's Guide. Last night showed him in York, taking the spa waters in Harrogate and in Saltaire, the model village created near Bradford for his workers by Sir Titus Salt. Tonight Portillo, according to the blurb, is in Batley learning about a 19th century recycling business and also looking at how the growth of the railways boosted Yorkshire's rhubarb industry. Sorry this is a bit short notice, since it's on at 6.30 p.m., but well worth a look, folks. Portillo is an attractive and articulate presenter with an obvious love for history. -- Roy Stockdill Genealogical researcher, writer & lecturer Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
