    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: megmooney Surnames: Creighton McMeekan Jones Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.yks.general/14770/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My ancestors Anthony and Sarah Creighton lived in Church St, Newtownards, Co. Down. Anthony a weaver, died 6th Dec. 1872 aged 88. The informant was Margaret (McMeekan) Jones, my great grandmother. Anthony and & Sarah were probably Margaret McMeekan's grandparents. His wife Sarah (maiden name unknown) died 28th August 1868, aged 81. Informant was John McMeekan. Margaret's brother? A relative named Creighton fought in the 1798 Rebellion. We know this by a uniform, now missing, that used to be in Newtownards Town Hall. Some think the wearer was in the York Fencibles. Some think he was local, with maybe connections in Ballynahinch or Saintfield. I have been unable to track down info on the York Fencibles that helps, and I wondered if anyone knew of records in Yorkshire. I know there were four Troops in North Riding that look promising. Newburgh Rangers. Kiplin & Langton Troop. Helmsley Troop. Barton Lee Street Troop. A leader of the York Fencibles stationed here in 1798, was a founder member of a Lodge in Belfast. The Fencibles stationed in Northern Ireland were disbanded in 1802, as were the above four, although some were re formed later. I know it's a long shot, but I would be grateful for any info on Creightons in Yorkshire. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. David Part 2! Ancestry.com search shows one Millicent HAWKIN on the 1930 USA Census, and one on their New York Passenger List 1820-1957, but I have only UK info access - perhaps someone else might be able to help..... Also searched as MIL* to pick-up those with one L in Millicent as your header, and there are lots in the USA, but again, I don't have a USA subscription to get the detailed info...... 3. Hi John Interesting question You learn something new every day I found there is a list as below, which I had not heard of before, mostly US content but worth a look see ? http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/Genealogical_Materials/GEN-MAT-15.html There is a proviso that the goods are under 15 dollars so not sure yours fit under that A search of the archives finds 167 posts with Yorkshire in the body of the mail Best wishes Nivard Ovington, in Cornwall (UK) > Hi Everyone, > > I have parish registers of St Peters parish, Huddersfield, to sell. Author: billbinns_1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.yks.general/14759.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, It's not uncommon to find ages on marriage certificates wrong. I suspect that one or both were under the age of consent(21) and married without parental consent. William Ackroyd Lee was born September quarter 1854 in Bradford District. If you wish to get a birth certificate for him, the GRO No. is 9b 164. In 1861 RG9 3327/54 Horton. Grace Ackroyd Unmarried with 2 children Emma 12 and William 7. This could be your William and Grace's partner could be called Lee. William's birth cert. should show this. Sarah Butterfield probably also born in 1854. 1861 RG9 3405 / 76 Liversedge Henry and Matilda Butterfield with Sarah 7, John 4, Joshua 8m. Matilda died twixt 1861 and 1865. Henry remarried Johanna Tillotson Dec quarter 1865 1871 RG10 4217 Keighley Sarah (Jane) maybe because Johanna also had a daughter called Sarah. 1881 RG11 4349/71 Keighley Henry & Johanna Hope this helps, Bill Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
