Hi Listers, I am trying, without much luck at the moment, to prove a connection between two sets of ELLIS families in Yorkshire. My 4x great grandfather, William Bernard ( or Barnard ) ELLIS was born in Leeds in December 1794. According to the IGI he was baptized a Methodist at Long Marston to parents Richard ELLIS and Ann (no surname) . In the IGI marriages I have found one Richard ELLIS and Ann CARTER married in April 1794 at Long Marston, but no mention of them being Methodist. There is another Richard ELLIS baptized in the same year at South Kirkby Yorkshire Is there anyone out there who has access to the All Saints Long Marston Parish Registers that could with the name of the father of Richard ELLIS which may help me progress further? Regards Paul in Bulwell Nottingham

Do you have the marriage date for James Hilton and Hannah Steemson as February 4, 1812? I have also seen Hannah's name as Steinsson and Steinason. Do you have proof of her last name for further research? I have been using the LDS site to connect all the children you mentioned. Thank you!!! I was only aware of Wm., James, John and Thomas before. I started this enquiry looking for the town of Bertrand. I believe I found Hannah (the daughter) Hilton married to Thomas Starr. Four of their children were born in Bertrand, Berrier County, Michigan, so the transcriber of the 1858 letter may have assumed Bertrand was in England. This opens the possibility that James, b. 1787, wound up in the USA also. The Starrs then moved from Michigan to Dunkirk, Chautauqua County, NY, about 1860, right near where her brothers had settled in the 1830s, and had 2 more children there. Did your Esther marry John Futty? Also found Isabella marrying William Blyth January 10, 1820 at ! Holy Trinity, Kingston Upon Hull, Yorks, England. Is this Church of England? Thank you for your helpful replies. Susan Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hello, I am new to your list and I am looking for any connections to the above. I have been searching for a long time for a marriage for my Gertrude Coralie Lloyd born 1902 in Wem, Shropshire. Today I have found a death for a Gertrude Coralie Wright in Sheffield in July 1985, age 83. This lead me to look back for her marriage. I have found her marriage in Dec qtr 1923 to James V Wright in Sheffield. I would like to hear from anyone who has any connection to James V and Gertrude Coralie. I have details of Gertrude's family in Shropshire to share. TIA Cynthia

There are many possible churches and the best verification ytou can get is a birth certificate. You do not need to give the names of the parents but just put in the Name, year, quarter followed by the volume no 9b and page no.626. The names of the parents will be on it when it comes back to you. you don't need to enter them on the details and this way you can be sure who the parents are. You can obtain this from http://www.col.statistics.gov.uk/login.asp and it will cost £7.00. and takes about 5-7 days.
