    1. [YORKSHIRE] Girl's name Asheway
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: jancisbeguildy Surnames: Pool, Halder, Stephenson, Dawson, Jowsey Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.yks.general/14861/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Asheway or Ashey crops up as a girl's name several times in my tree, the first one being Asheway Pool born in Muston, Yorkshire in 1778. There are very few Asheways on any of the usual genealogy sites but I have found them in the Halder, Stephenson, Dawson and Jowsey families in Yorkshire. Asheway's father John Pool was a witness to the marriage of Asheway Halder and John Stephenson in Muston. I'm sure the families must be connected somehow because it's such an unusal name. Does anyone else have Asheway/Asheys in their tree or know where the name originates? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: joolsmarley Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.yks.general/14859.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'd hazard a guess that c/o Wood opposite the Town Hall probably refers to a firm of solicitors. Worth pointing out in case you aren't aware - Thornton is in Bradford, so perhaps she died in a relatives house. Unless she was very well known then an obituary is not very likely, but a death notice is very possible. Regional morning paper is Torkshire Post, Yorkshire Evening Post covers Leeds, Telegraph & Argus covers Bradford Have a look at this website (it's a long url, so may break over 2 lines) http://www.yli.org.uk/newsplan/news_details.asp?title=Yorkshire Post (Leeds) Jools Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He could, have been around 50 yrs old. While his daughters were of the area, his son may have been born elsewhere.
