Do you have the 1932 marriage cert? It should give Sarah's condition at marriage (if given correctly) what does it give for her maiden name. Was this in the UK? as I do not find a HARPER to Sarah WILSON marriage. I would not believe every family tale 100%, they are prone to a little embellishment :-) NJO Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hi everyone, Regarding my posting of the update yesterday, you will recall that a large number of surname submissions posted by a John Hebden were deleted because the email address was bouncing. This notice might prove confusing as there is another highly-respected genealogy researcher for Yorkshire with the same name! Just to be clear, I have asked the latter for a statement, which I gladly reproduce here: "Can I reassure members on ykssurnames that I am not the John Hebden listed as having e-mails bouncing, there are more than one of us but not as many as there are John Smiths!" Oh please, can we try being polite, it would be just as easy to ask for dates and places without the extra comments. If those comments are needed perhaps it could be in the form of advice rather than criticisms. We all have bad days, but gee courtesy can go a long way. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Roy Stockdill" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, August 22, 2009 1:58 PM Subject: Re: [YORKSHIRE] Adoption > On 22 Aug 2009 at 20:48, [email protected] wrote: > >> This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. >> >> Author: kirsty156 >> Surnames: wilson, harper, clarkson >> Classification: queries >> >> Message Board URL: >> >> http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.yks.general/15 >> 357/mb.ashx >> >> Message Board Post: >> >> I'm trying to find details of a lady by the name Annie Harper, her mum >> was Sarah Wilson. from what i understand is that Sarah Wilson is her >> biological mum. but a gentleman by the name frank harper adopted her >> when he married Sarah and she took his name is ther anyway i might be >> able to get more information or clarfy this as i can seem to find any >> details of her birth > > > What a totally absurd and ridiculoust post! > > Why don't you try giving some serious details like dates, places, etc.? > Otherwise, how on > earth do you expect people to help you? > > > -- > Roy Stockdill > Professional genealogical researcher, writer & lecturer > Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: > www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html > > "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, > and that is not being talked about." > OSCAR WILDE > > > > > > Some useful websites - > FREECEN - http://www.freecen.org.uk/ > FREEBMD - http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ > Want to know where a place in Yorkshire is - Try Genuki > http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/ > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message

Hello, I am new to your list and I am researching the GALWAY surname in Harrogate, Knaresborough and Scarborough. In 1911 I have Frederick GALWAY 39 a bricklayer born Harrogate. Isabel, wife 39, Harry son 12 and Muriel dau 9 ref RG14PN25934, 44 Electrice Avenue, New Park, Harrogate. Harry Galway married Jeanne Archer in 1921 in Knaresborough. I think they had nine children between 1921 and 1943. I would like to hear from anyone who knows anything about the above family please. Cynthia
