I am trying to find the whereabouts of Robert DONKIN and his family during c1818 and 1849. He was a druggist in Ripon in 1818 but disappears after that until his death in 1849 in Chelsea, when he is described as a 'retired druggist and chemist'. I am currently looking through the London trade directories with no success, and wondered whether anyone in Yorkshire have come across him in the Yorkshire Directories. He was married to Sarah Dodsworth in 1810 in Ripon Cathedral and they had at least 5 children between 1811 and 1818. Maureen

Hi Christopher, There does not appear to be a birth registration for him in either the 2nd or 3rd qtr of 1878. Is there any more information on his application to The Canadian Expeditionary Force? Is his mother's name clearly written as Edith? It might be worth trying to find them on the 1911 census too if you haven't already looked as this would then give you their place of birth.
