    3. [email protected] wrote - ANYONE DOING DENNING HERE i would like to talk with you <snipped> Hi folks, If ever there was a lesson in how NOT to use this mailing list, this is it. No mention of where, when or, indeed, any information to help identify the family. I'm not going to waste my time looking up just how many DENNINGs there were in Yorkshire at any particular time but I'm sure there were plenty. This lazy approach to research is what gets many people's backs up. A surname without a location really belongs on the relevant surname list, not here. If in doubt as to how to how to construct a query, have a look at the 'Welcome' message you received when you subscribed. If you haven't kept it, contact me privately and I'll send you a copy Cheers, Dave Jassie - List Administrator [email protected]

I spoke on your behalf and if you'd like to send details to them, I'm sure they will respond. best of luck. Dear Jill, I refer to your enquiry regarding Castle Howard Reformatory School. I confirm we hold admission registers for the school but unfortunately the first register does not start until 1894, the early register has not been deposited with us and its whereabouts are not known. The only document we have earlier than 1894 regarding pupils is a photograph album which does indicate the names of some of the boys. If you could provide the name of your relative I can check this for you. If you friend would like to contact us with the details of her ancestor who attended the school we can check to see if he was admitted after 1894 and also check the photograph album. I look forward to hearing from you with a name.
