    2. Steve Jones
    3. Hi Everyone! I am looking for the family of Ann HAGUE born about 1828 Saddleworth according to Queensland Australia certificates. She married a William SHEEHAN (born about 1835 Limerick) at Stalybridge, Ashton under Lyne in 1855 ( am awaiting marriage cert). It is stated on Queensland certs. that Ann Hague's parents were William HAGUE and Mary Ann OLDAN. I can't find anything that might support these names. Can anyone help please. I did find a William and Mariam HAGUE having 3 children in Saddleworth on the IGI: Harriet 1825 Ann 1828 James 1831 Is there a marriage index for Yorkshire that can be checked please? Thanks very much for any help with this family. Best wishes, Judy mailto:[email protected] For information about my Genealogy Interests: http://sajones.bigblog.com.au/

    1. [YORKSHIRE] PUBLIC HOUSE/S - CHURCH STREET WHITBY
    2. Patricia Barsby
    3. Good Morning All, I'm new to the list and researching my husband's family which has recently led me to the area of Whitby and in particular Church Street where his ancestors were seen for many census years. George FRANK was initially a 'Cartwright' in 1841 and his son George a 'Shipwright' but by 1851, George sen. was age 60 and the census said an 'InnKeeper'. He died before the next census and it seems that the son George then becomes the 'Licenced Vituallar' before 1861 before moving on to farming and furniture broker/dealer. My two questions are, could anyone please tell me the name of the public house/inn which I assume would have been in Church Street where they were seen on census? Also could I also get any further information on their time spent there? Thanking you in advance for any help with this. I've only been into genealogy for a couple of years...but found the Dods-Dodson line in my family tree as follows John Dods - Jesse - Charles - Thomas - George - Lazarus - Elisha - Alice - Thomas Shadden - Eliza Shadden - 2nd great grandmother Mary Wallan. If anyone out there is a direct maternal line descendant from John Dods (not me) it could shed some light on John Dod's wife. Through DNA testing it could confirm or disprove Native American Ancestry. This, in and of itself, wouldn't confirm "Jane Eagle Plume" as an ancestor...but could possibly lend credence to (or rule out) Jane as a potential predecessor. I did have DNA testing done (I'm MtDNA haplogoup J*)...but Jane isn't part of my direct maternal line. Happy Ancestor Hunting to all. I have not found anyone who can say there was a "Jane Eagle Plume", or a Chief Eagle Plume. The Iroquois did not live in Virginia. The Powhaten tribe lived in Virginia. It seems people are just repeating what they have found on the internet without any proof. The GOOD NEWS is that I found a man who wrote a book on John Dods, and it is in the process of being published. Here is a link to another discussion web site where the book is mentioned. The manuscript is currently at the printers. I'm not sure exactly when I will get the copies, but you are on my mailing list now, and I will let you know the details of how to obtain a copy as soon as I get them. Perhaps the question is now solved. I hope this information will somehow help fellow researchers of the Dods/Dodson/Dotson line. I have a thought. Why are all of these people researching the Dodson family tree individually? Why not have the Dodson tree set up somewhere on the internet where anyone can add their lines to it. The linage would have to be reasonably certain to be added. But this has got to be better than hundreds of people having their own little pieces of their family tree on a computer or paper - and not knowing how they "fit into" the overall Dodson family tree. I have a lot of data I can contribute to this. Just let me know. Michael A Tipton Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
