    3. In Nov last year I posted this "Peter HANSON m 1797 Thorner Rose Chapman HOWSON Their son Benjamin HOWSON b 1807 m 1838 Nancy FALLAS [from FreeBMD, so not checked] They in turn had Emma b 1844 in Hunslet, she married Frank FAIRBOURN from Easingwold." In looking at the 1841 I discovered that I was barking in the wrong part of the forest. In 1841 Benjamin had Elkanah CHPAMAN 65y staying with him, which lead me to the marriage in Leeds in 1829 to Nancy CHAPMAN. There would appear to be two Elkanahs on the IGI. One baptised in Halifax in 1771, son of Amos. I would presume he married Hannah KNOWLES in Halifax in 1796. The other married a Judith HANSON - my senses are tingling. But I cannot find any child Nancy b c 1803. Does anyone have a connection to Elkanah CHAPMAN m Judith HANSON? I presume he also married Sarah TAYLOR. Regards, Don McArthur. Author: bbffrrpp Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.yks.general/15636/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, I'd like to mention that I have just started up a new List. It is for discussing all the "child migrants" which were either shipped out or flown out of the United Kingdom and Ireland. This "child migrant scheme" went on from 1860 to 1970 - about 100 years. Perhaps 150,000 unwanted or needy children were sent out to the Colonies. Over 100,000 of them were shipped to Canada between 1860 and 1940. From ~1900 to 1970, thousands more were sent to Australia, New Zealand, Africa, South Africa, Malta, etc. http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/UK/CHILD-MIGRANTS-UK.html My LEWIS / CORKILL great-grandparents were born in Liverpool, Lancashire ~1860. In 1874, they and their siblings were shipped to Canada. They all went to different families in Nova Scotia; 2 young boys were 5 and 3. In Canada, all the children became known as "British Home Children." I joined the BHC List about 7 years ago and I've been active on it ever since. There is important information on the "child migrant scheme" in the archives of that List. It's very kind of you to do the lookup for me. This particular ancestor keeps amazing me. Someone in the family actually had some money!! 3. Hi Jo There are quite a few sites to be found with a google for dating old photographs Such as :- http://www.cartes.freeuk.com/time/date.htm http://www.cartedevisite.co.uk/2008/09/welcome-to-dating-old-photographs/ Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) Hi Everyone, I am new to the list - can anyone tell me how/where to get photographs dated. I have been given copies of some ancestors - unfortunately don't know who they are - but thought if I could get them dates might be able to narrow it down a bit. Thanks for any help you can give.
