Hello searchers, although I have not found the names I was looking for I found extra help 'walking the area' through these notes There are many names clearly shown in these notes 1841 Bradford Bowling HO7 1292 09.The actual census image is very poor in this section but the pencil was obviously newly sharpened when he set off ! Hope this helps someone Bowling (Enumeration district 5 ) " All that part of the Township of Bowling beginning at the house occupied by James HUDSON Beerseller +numbered 593,and every house in the east side of Wakefield Road down to a low house numbered 722 and occupied by James NEWBY return and enter a yard to the left , take ale within then go through a passage and there will be found five dwellings occupied by John MYERS, John MILLS George WALKER, James HARDISTY and one that was empty, turn to the left +there will be found five houses,which are occupied by Thomas BLACKBURN no 723 Jonas DAVIS no 724, William TEAN ? no 725 John RASTRICK no 726 and Joseph BOYLE no 727.The last five houses is the beginning of Back Lane and the boundary of Bowling +Bradford, turn up Back- Lane toward the iron works + begin with no 728 occupied by Thomas MYERS and proceed forward on the south side of Back-lane to John SHEPHERD's shopkeeper, no 764, including it " Perhaps he knew we would not be able to read much of the other pages. This Enumerator was Benjamin Ferrand and there are more notes like this for this area. Can anyone recommend a source for a good map of the area at this time 1840's / 1850's? My 1908 has helped me locate some of this area but not Bowling completely.The detailed notes make me think I could follow a map around. Can post more like this if required.
