According to my audit log it failed on me (first failure) at 19:32 on Tuesday evening and I performed 5 retries, all failed. I got a "SEA 501 - unable to perform request" three times then an "Administration error - access denied. Please contact your system administrator" twice. To me that looks very like a "server being taken out of service abruptly" problem... eg. it died and fell off the network. So then by Wednesday they were probably running their "backup servers" intermittently whilst trying to get the main web-server back online. Hence the "now you see me, now you don't scenario". OK techy speak over. This was just to be in competition with Roy "Condescending" Stockdill :D Roy just had luck (and I suspect a cached page as his home page so that he could at least "see" the site) on his side and the rest of us didn't...... Like people servers have nervous breakdowns, overload and they die... it happens... but this is only the second time in about 5 years I can remember LDS having this problem so I think we can count ourselves VERY lucky. I wish the kit I worked on was that reliable. (And possibly some of the people too!) Has this subject been done to death yet? Perhaps I was just lucky in logging on at the right time every tim.! Because I use the site so often I've set it as my default home page in Internet Explorer (using Tools and Internet Options) and it just goes straight to familysearch every time I log on. I promise to let you know and hold my hands up the first time it doesn't work!
