Having almost mapped out the life of my elusive ancestor Clara Galloway I would like opinions in how the name was likely to have been pronounced . Clara was born 1861 and it seems to be a fairly common name. I have been thinking Clara ,the ar rhyming with star, but have heard someone suggesting Clara with it rhyming with air. It is not important to the genealogy but what would have been more likely in West Yorks in 1860/70 ? Your thoughts on this please,Any grandmothers or Aunts called Clara ? Valerie N Yorks
